What are people saying about BedVoyage Bedding?

"its been driving me nuts for years that all sheet sets come with a top sheet and I don't want it! I have to pay for it, and don't need it, so I've been giving them to my dad to use as car covers for his hot rods because there is nothing I can do with it. So finally somebody (thank you BedVoyage) figured it out and made a set that gets me all that i need for my bed. Congratulations for being so smart!"

"My daughter has been removing her flat sheet for years, it always ends up on the floor, and I explain it helps keep the duvet clean longer, but she says it gets in her way and makes it harder to make her bed so she just didn't. So when I got the announcement that you had a bottom sheet and duvet cover set, I immediately ordered her the gray one, and she is loving it and said its way easier to make her bed (at least she's making her bed!!! LOL) so I was thrilled! thank you for thinking of this!"

How to care for your bamboo bedding:
VERY IMPORTANT:
We've oversized the linens to allow for the first-time shrinkage that occurs, wash them FIRST to allow for the best fit.
Zip the duvet, euro sham or travel pillowcase CLOSED prior to laundering to maintain the integrity of the zipper.
Wash the linens in cool to warm water with a gentle liquid detergent, and dry on low to medium, removing immediately will reduce wrinkling. WEIRD fact! Bamboo comes out of the washer feeling stiff and canvas-like, that is normal so you don't have to worry that you've harmed your linens.
For best results, wash the sheets separate from other items, especially towels. Towels produce a lot of lint, which can stick to sheets and create friction which causes pilling. Our linens are made from a tight twill weave, which makes a beautiful sheen, and also keeps them from pilling!
We recommend giving your pillowcases a hard shake to smooth out the hem, before placing in the dryer. And removing the sheets from the dryer when done will help reduce wrinkling. We don’t coat our linens with formaldehyde, which is a wrinkle-resistant chemical, so it’s natural that bamboo may have a little wrinkling on the hems, or develop soft wrinkles as you sleep on them. But each time you launder, they come out smooth again!

Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do you wash Standard Pillow Shams? Do I launder the same way as a Cotton Pillow Shams?
The Standard Shams are best cared for by washing in warm water using a liquid eco-friendly detergent and drying on medium heat. Proper washing will extend their life; you can expect to get 5-6 years from your pillow covers with proper laundering. Using hot water and high heat can cause pillow shams to pill, which are the uncomfortable bumps you’ll see on some sweaters or low-quality sheets. Also, bamboo is resistant to bacteria so your pillow shams should stay fresh longer.
-
Are Bamboo Shams good for your skin? Are Bamboo Pillow Shams good for hair?
Bamboo is hypoallergenic, which supports healthy skin. Bamboo is naturally resistant to bacteria, moisture wicking and breathable, helping to minimize acne and skin irritations. The smooth and silky fibers keep your hair from damage and breaking off and helps maintain supple and smooth skin.
-
My husband has oily skin; how can I get oil stains out of the Standard Shams?
You may try any of the following: wet the oil stains, apply Dawn dishwashing liquid (a de-greaser!) soak for 15 minutes, then wash. Or spray a spot remover onto the stains before laundering, or use a paste of baking soda and water, let sit 10 minutes, then launder as usual.
-
What are the benefits of bamboo Standard Sham Covers?
Neutral odor, bamboo pillow covers are ideal for beauty sleep because they are naturally hypoallergenic, repel dust mites, and are resistant to mold and bacterial growth. Eco-mélange bamboo pillow shams comfortably regulate body temperature by absorbing sweat making them perfect for hot sleepers, and people with skin sensitivities and acne.
-
Will bamboo Standard Shams shrink?
Bamboo will shrink a little the first time that you wash it, but we’ve deliberately over-sized our pillow covers to allow for shrinkage and the perfect fit. If you want to occasionally force your pillow shams to shrink, for tighter fit, simply wash on hot and dry on high every 4-5 washings.
-
How long do bamboo Pillow Sham Covers last?
These eco-friendly Pillow covers can last up to 5-6 years when cared for properly. If you rotate between multiple Pillow Shams, each set will last 6-7 years. In comparison, traditional cotton pillow covers usually only last a few years before you need to replace them.
-
Do bamboo Standard Shams fade?
No, the unique waterless coloring method makes the colors true and fade resistant. Even when you bleach them!
-
Can you hang dry bamboo Standard Shams?
Yes, you can. Once they are air-dried, you can toss in the dryer for 5-10 minutes if you need to get any ‘crispness’ softened.
-
Do bamboo Sham Covers wrinkle?
We don’t coat our linens with formaldehyde, which is a wrinkle-resistant toxin that the cotton industry uses. Therefore, they may get a soft wrinkle when you sleep, but with each fresh laundering, they’ll come out of the dryer silky smooth again.
-
Can I iron the bamboo Standard Shams?
Yes, absolutely, and even with high heat and steam. A little trick to reduce ironing: dry the pillow covers on high for the last 10 minutes of the cycle and remove immediately, and they will come out smooth.
-
What is the thread count in the bamboo Standard Pillow Shams?
Thread count is something that many sheet-shoppers look for, usually opting for higher counts, expecting more softness. But thread count is not the most important factor in how soft a sheet is; the material of the threads from which it’s made is the most important factor. This means that our 300 thread count bamboo fiber and long-staple cotton fiber Pillow covers are softer and costs less than plain cotton pillow covers with higher thread counts. Additionally, a thread count of 300 for bamboo is very high. We’ve opted for the ‘sweet spot’ of 300 thread count as this will have incredible softness AND keep the breathability of the pillow shams.
-
Is Bamboo Viscose and Rayon from Bamboo the same thing?
Yes, the process of breaking down the bamboo stalk into a fiber is the same for both viscose or rayon, which is used in eco-melange fabrics. Because the end bamboo fiber is indistinguishable from other wood pulps (ie; eucalyptus, beech wood, pine, etc.) the Federal Trade Commission requires that it be called one of those terms. We have chosen to call them ‘rayon viscose from Bamboo’ to be in line with what most large retailers are using, so that consumers are not confused.
-
Where are bamboo Pillow Shams made?
BedVoyage linens are manufactured responsibly at the largest home textile factory in China. Our factory has passed a stringent 25 point review process by many US retailers, as well as yearly passing the Social Responsibility Audit. This ensures there are no child workers, employees are not over-worked or underpaid, and work in an environment where there are safeguards in place to ensure their health and safety. We are proud to be processing our bamboo in such a responsible factory!
