"its been driving me nuts for years that all sheet sets come with a top sheet and I don't want it! I have to pay for it, and don't need it, so I've been giving them to my dad to use as car covers for his hot rods because there is nothing I can do with it. So finally somebody (thank you BedVoyage) figured it out and made a set that gets me all that i need for my bed. Congratulations for being so smart!"

"My daughter has been removing her flat sheet for years, it always ends up on the floor, and I explain it helps keep the duvet clean longer, but she says it gets in her way and makes it harder to make her bed so she just didn't. So when I got the announcement that you had a bottom sheet and duvet cover set, I immediately ordered her the gray one, and she is loving it and said its way easier to make her bed (at least she's making her bed!!! LOL) so I was thrilled! thank you for thinking of this!"

"My mom and aunt had been telling me about these sheets (why, do they think I have hot flashes, hah!) and I thought they were too expensive for me, but then they told me about this new one of cotton and bamboo together, and the price was right so I did it! I totally dig these sheets, and my girlfriend said she wants some for Christmas, so that was easy! buy them, you'll like them for sure."

How to care for your bamboo bedding:
VERY IMPORTANT:
We've oversized the linens to allow for the first-time shrinkage that occurs, wash them FIRST to allow for the best fit.
Zip the duvet, euro sham or travel pillowcase CLOSED prior to laundering to maintain the integrity of the zipper.
Wash the linens in cool to warm water with a gentle liquid detergent, and dry on low to medium, removing immediately will reduce wrinkling. WEIRD fact! Bamboo comes out of the washer feeling stiff and canvas-like, that is normal so you don't have to worry that you've harmed your linens.
For best results, wash the sheets separate from other items, especially towels. Towels produce a lot of lint, which can stick to sheets and create friction which causes pilling. Our linens are made from a tight twill weave, which makes a beautiful sheen, and also keeps them from pilling!
We recommend giving your pillowcases a hard shake to smooth out the hem, before placing in the dryer. And removing the sheets from the dryer when done will help reduce wrinkling. We don’t coat our linens with formaldehyde, which is a wrinkle-resistant chemical, so it’s natural that bamboo may have a little wrinkling on the hems, or develop soft wrinkles as you sleep on them. But each time you launder, they come out smooth again!

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is eco-melange?
Eco-melange is a patented water-less process of dying the bamboo fibers, in any color you desire, and then weaving those pre-dyed fibers with white cotton fibers, to create a textured-look. The result is a bamboo and cotton blend that gives a luxe lived-in look and feel. BedVoyage uses 60% bamboo and 40% cotton for the blend.
-
Will eco-melange sheets pill?
No, we use premium quality bamboo fibers and long-staple cotton fibers with a sateen weave. Bamboo cotton blend bed sheets are less likely to tear and pill than traditional cotton sheets.
-
Does bleach ruin eco-melange sheets?
No, eco-melange is a bleachable fabric, even when it has color. It is also benzoyl peroxide and retinal safe. Fabric softeners and dryer sheets can leave a film on the fabric, reducing the moisture-wicking properties, so those are not recommended.
-
How to wash eco-melange sheets? Do I wash eco-melange sheets like I would cotton sheets?
The bamboo cotton blend sheets are best cared for by washing in warm water using a liquid eco-friendly detergent and drying on medium heat. Proper washing will extend their life; you can expect to get 4-5 years from your bed sheets with proper laundering. Using hot water and high heat can cause any linens to pill, which are the uncomfortable bumps you’ll see on some sweaters or low-quality sheets. Also, bamboo is resistant to bacteria, so your sheets will stay fresh longer.
-
Can eco-melange sheets go in the dryer?
Yes, you can hang dry if you want, but in the dryer; choose a medium heat for the tumble cycle. As soon as the dryer finishes, avoid wrinkles by immediately taking them out.
-
Do eco-melange sheets shrink?
Bamboo will shrink a little the first time that you wash it, but we’ve deliberately over-sized our pillow covers to allow for shrinkage and the perfect fit. If you want to occasionally force your pillow shams to shrink, for tighter fit, simply wash on hot and dry on high every 4-5 washings.
-
How long do eco-melange sheets last?
These eco-friendly Pillow covers can last up to 5-6 years when cared for properly. If you rotate between multiple Pillow Shams, each set will last 6-7 years. In comparison, traditional cotton pillow covers usually only last a few years before you need to replace them.
-
What are Rayon Bamboo eco-melange sheets?
Bamboo sheets labeled as Rayon (or Viscose) from Bamboo means the sheets are a rayon fabric that is derived from the bamboo plant. Other rayon fabric can come from eucalyptus, birchwood or other woody plants. We blend the bamboo fibers with cotton fibers, so they are strong and durable sheets.
-
Do eco-melange sheets wrinkle?
We don’t coat our linens with formaldehyde, which is a wrinkle-resistant toxin that the cotton industry uses. Therefore, they can get a soft wrinkle when you sleep on them, but with each fresh washing, they’ll come out of the dryer silky smooth again.
-
Can you iron eco-melange Sheets?
Yes, absolutely, and even with high heat and steam. A little trick to reduce ironing: dry the sheets on high for the last 10 minutes of the cycle and remove immediately, and they will come out smooth.
-
Are eco-melange sheets good for hot sleepers?
Yes, one of the remarkable qualities of bamboo (used in eco-melange) is that its thermal regulating. This means that the fibers sense your needs and adjust accordingly, bamboo will release the excess heat for hot sleepers, but keep the warmth in for cold sleepers. The micro-gaps and holes in the fibers act like a ‘smart fabric’ and know when to adjust the temperature.
-
How to clean eco-melange sheets? Do you have to use a special detergent?
We recommend a mild liquid detergent like Ecos, Mrs. Myers, Woolite, Seventh Generation, ECover, or Kirkland Ultra Clean. We do not recommend bleach, fabric softener, washer balls or dryer sheets/balls. Harsher detergents can break down the fibers faster, shortening the lifespan of the bed sheets.
-
Will your eco-melange sheets fit my 22” deep mattress?
Our fitted sheet is 18” deep, but roomy. It may stretch to fit your 22”, OR if you have a ‘topper’ the elastic could fit into the crease of the topper and the mattress. Many customers tell us they will fit a 22” mattress.
-
What thread count are the eco-melange sheets? Does thread count matter in sheet buying?
Thread count is something that many sheet-shoppers look for, usually opting for higher counts, expecting more softness. But thread count is not the most important factor in how soft a sheet is; the material of the threads from which it’s made is the most important factor. This means that our 300 thread count sheets bamboo and long-staple cotton sheets are softer and cost less than many sheets with higher thread counts. Additionally, a thread count of 300 for bamboo is very high. We’ve opted for the ‘sweet spot’ of 300 thread count as this will have incredible softness AND keep the breathability of the linens.
-
Are bamboo viscose and rayon from bamboo the same thing? Does eco-mélange have bamboo rayon?
Yes, eco-melange has a blend of bamboo and cotton, 60% bamboo, 40% cotton. And the process of breaking down the bamboo stalk into a fiber is the same for both viscose or rayon. Because the end fiber is indistinguishable from other wood pulps (ie; eucalyptus, beech wood, pine, etc.) the Federal Trade Commission requires that it be called one of those terms. We have chosen to call them ‘rayon viscose from Bamboo’ to be in line with what most large retailers are using, so that consumers are not confused.
-
Where are eco-melange sheets made?
BedVoyage linens are manufactured responsibly at the largest home textile factory in China. Our factory has passed a stringent 25 point review process by many US retailers, as well as yearly passing the Social Responsibility Audit. This ensures there are no child workers, employees are not over-worked or underpaid, and work in an environment where there are safeguards in place to ensure their health and safety. We are proud to be processing our bamboo in such a responsible factory!
-
Do eco-melange sheets fade?
No, the unique waterless coloring method makes the color strong and true and can even be bleached without fading.
-
Does pet hair come off easily? Does pet hair stick to eco-melange?
Most of the pet hair should come off in the wash, or you can use a lint roller between laundry days. Remember, bamboo has some antibacterial properties so your linens won’t accumulate the same amount of smell that just cotton sheets might, and bamboo is anti-static so pet fur and lint should not cling to it like they would to cotton. And because we use a sateen weave for our sheets, they’re less likely to snag with pet claws than some other sheets or knitted flannels.
-
Can you hang dry eco-melange sheets?
Yes, you can. Once they are air-dried, you can toss them in the dryer for 5-10 minutes if you need to get any ‘crispness’ softened.
-
Does the fitted sheet have a deep pocket?
Yes, the pocket is 18” deep with elastic all the way around the edge, not just at the corners like most sheets. This way whether you have a Tempur-Pedic® or a pillow-top mattress, the fitted sheet will stay snug and never pop off. If you've ever wondered how to fold a fitted sheet.
-
My husband has oily skin; how can I get oil stains out?
You may try any of the following: wet the oil stains, apply Dawn dishwashing liquid (a de-greaser!) soak for 15 minutes, then wash. Or spray a spot remover onto the stains before laundering, or use a paste of baking soda and water, let sit 10 minutes, then launder as usual.
